Equipped with a Fine Arts education, raw nerve and 15 yrs of "hard labor" and management experience in retail/hotel/restaurant businesses, I partnered a lighting design studio venture on Worth Ave, Palm Beach in 1990. A timely personal growth opportunity came along a few years later and I embarked on an amazing sabatical to gain first-hand experience of the spirituality, cultural and artistic expressions of the Indigenous people of America; self-publishing several books on indigenous ancient culture and my personal experiences traveling with a Native American medicine man. Using a Bio-Ag non-toxic/non-petro chem plant & seed activator developed by the medicine man, we taught sustainable farming and self-sufficiency to several NA tribes. On the Navajo rez in AZ we lived without running water, electricity or plumbing. We pumped and hauled precious water and swept the dirt floors of our traditional Navajo "hogan" that we built by hand & without power tools. Learning to make fry bread the "Indian" way; I kept the pot belly stove stoked to prevent us from freezing to death in the high country winter. We also lived for 6 wks, 1 mile down in "Second Mesa" (Grand Canyon) in a mud, stone and stick wigwam that we built, endured a 40 mile "vision quest" trek across the scorching hot canyon without food or water. A humbling experience. The awakening of my spirit as the result of these powerful experiences inspired me to make a change in career to Human Resources. Humanitarian efforts include petitioning the Fed Gov to gain reinstatement of Calusa-Seminole Nation and advocacy/support work for several other NA tribes & impoverished people.
